A great result for our riders last Sunday!! LVYCC are now top club in the Eastern Cyclocross league with many riders at the top of their league categories. Well done to everyone who races
In the youth race we took the top 4 places. Matt Clements took first place and is now top of the leader board as well as top of the British Cycling rankings. Lewis Bulley rode a great race to get 2nd place followed close behind by Callum Mackie and James Ambrose-Parish and the 6th place went to Georg Jensen who was also first U14 youth. Also giving a creditable account of themselves were Will Warre, Callum Bulley, Jake Callis.
In the vets and junior womens race Bryony and Francesca fought it out for the whole race. In the end it was Francesca who just managed to beat Bryony to the line for them to take 1st and 2nd in the Junior womens race. Tony and Mick continue their duel with Mick just taking the lead this week. Bob Griffiths also rode in the vets this week, his first cross race of the season together with Sean Kerrigan and Jason Warre in his first season of competitive riding. Though at the lower end of the results they look to have had a good battle going on with Sean leading the group and Bob finishing 14 seconds ahead of Jason!
In the Junior boys event Matthew and James Madgwick continue their progress this year together with Harry Chavner. At the moment Matthew is first in the league with James 2nd and Harry joint third. It is great to see our ex-youth riders sticking with it whereas in the past there has been a drop off at that age. Well done guys.
And so to the young riders in the under 12 categories that caters for all ages from 6 up.Felix Mackie continues to push himself towards the top of the leader board with a very creditable 4th. This week he was joined by Eden Hamilton, Molly Drew and Aidan Kerrigan.
If you ride but are have not joined the Eastern league, please consider doing so, even though we are part way through the season. That way both you and the club get ranking points. The cost for 2012-13 is £10 for senior and veteran men and women, £6 for junior men and women, and £3 for youths. Under 12s can enter free. All categories apart from the Under 12s enjoy cheaper entry fees as league members which quickly makes up the cost of league membership.
