So here we are as the school holidays begin! Le Tour is going well for us ( I won’t give todays results in case you’re going to watch the results later) and great news for our Youth members!

  • After much discussion we can announce that we are going to re-start our sister club – Lee Valley Velo. We hope to have it up and running in September ready for the cross season. In future we plan that youth members will be automatically transferred to LVV (provided that they agree!) when they cease to be Youths as classified by BC. A new kit is in the process of being designed with input from our youth contingent. LVV will be open to adults and the adults who take out a family membership will be in LVV and their youth classified children in LV Youth. It is proposed that the current management committee will oversee both clubs.
  • Tomorrow, Saturday 21st July, there is a group of riders and adults going to the Kent Cyclopark. If you want to join in then try and get there for 9.45am.The following is from Steve Jensen “Cyclopark has a youth bike club session on at 10.00, they will use the bottom of the circuit, so the circuit we can use will be the top part, where the first summer series races took place, its still pretty big.
Any rider who wishes to join in with the Cyclopark club are invited, its friendly and they will welcome our riders, probably good for the younger riders. If you want to do this turn up at 9.45. This club is on-going so might work when Hog Hill is closed. I think its £3.
  • Remember that it is the turn of Redbridge to host the Olympic Torch Relay on Sunday 22nd July when the torch will start off from the Redbridge Cycling Centre at approximately 7.15am. Everyone who applied to be at the start will have been advised by now. Information about the route can be found from the following link:
  • News from Welwyn Wheelers:
    • The Welwyn Track League meeting on Friday 27th July has been cancelled and will be run on Friday 21st September. This date will be the final (and points pay-out) meeting of the 2012 Track League.
    • The British Cycling East Region Track Championship which was scheduled to be run on Saturday 8th September has now been moved to Sunday 23rd September starting at 12.30.
  • Have a good summer break. I will continue to send the eNewsletter as and when there are things to tell you and provided I m not working at the Olympics or on holiday myself! Also keep an eye on our website as there may be times when I can update that but not send out a club email.
