LVYCC cross weekend, although hard work, can be considered a success.
Having erected the course on Friday rain was expected at some point during the racing, amazingly it held off, aside from a down-poor on the corporate team races later on Saturday.
Saturdays Eastern League races was really well attended by our youth riders. In the U16s both Madgwick twins rode well, James came in a strong 6th and Mathew 9th. Matt Clements, a first year U16, was 11th & Harry Chavner 14th. Francesca Morgans-Slader was 2nd U16 girl.
U14s was dominated by National Champion Dan Tullett, but putting in a strong performance in 2nd was Georg Jensen. Callum Mackie & James Ambrose-Parish battled together throughout the race, Callum piped James to the post in 5th place James 6th. William Warre riding well in 9th, Arun Soor, in his first Cross race finished well in 14th.
U12-Simon Bird & Emmanuel Joseph kept tabs on the leading bunch, Simon in 5th and Emmanuel in 7th. Caelan Miller, Jake Carter, Thomas Eastwood & Jacob Alano all made a big effort and finished 9th, 14th, 15th & 16th respectively.
Juniors-James Price rode courageously in a really tough Junior category and finished 7th. Veterans-Mick Clemence was our only representative and rode strongly in a leg sapping race, he finished a super 12th in his class.
Sundays London League saw a really strong adult field and some members of the club rode in the youth event, for some it was their second race of the weekend.
U16- Francesca Morgans-Slader had her second 2nd! U14- Callum Mackie rode really well and came an excellent 3rd with James Ambrose-Parish falling ill not finishing. U12-Emmanuel Joseph bettered his Saturday race with a strong 6th. U10-Owen Vaughan & Jake Carter toughed it out to finish 9th & 10th overall.
Well done & big thank you to everyone who helped, and a special thanks to Bruce Mackie and Terry Morgans-Slader who organised the whole event.
