Noah Hobbs stormed to a fantastic second place in the U14 race at the English Riviera Classic (race 1 of this year’s Youth National Series) in Torquay last weekend.
Noah, who joined Lee Valley Youth from Barking and Dagenham last year, rode strongly throughout the fast paced race, keeping a good position and setting himself up well for the final sprint. His grandparents live in the South West and were able to watch the race – the finish of which brought his grandma to tears.
Every LVYCC rider I watched that day seemed to be working at all out effort, in fast and furious races. Eleanor Bolton finished 12th in the U14 girls, Ritchie Selfe (U16) and Owen Prenelle (first yearU14) finished just outside the top 20. The setting was beautiful, on the sea front at Torquay with gorgeous views of the bay. I’m not sure any of the riders could appreciate that as they raced – the dead turns took a lot of sprinting out of, particularly if you were not on the front of the group. Hopefully they got to spend a bit of time sitting in the sun watching the other races though, as it was a rare jewel of a Spring day – worth the trip for the atmosphere and fantastic racing.
Big LVYCC congratulations to Noah – an achievement to be proud of.
