Luke and Owen raced in France again on Sunday. Not content to relax on holiday after the rigours of Assen, the Prenelles found a race to do in Normandy, on a circuit around the village of Yvetot Bocage. Owen’s pre race strategy was to put in a little dig on the first lap to see who was strong and then try again to pull a break clear. However he got a gap at the first attack and then time trialled home to win solo with over a minute over the chasing bunch.
This Lee Valley victory meant Luke lacked the element of surprise in his race, especially when the race commentator announced that he was the brother of Owen and warned local riders not to let l’Anglais out of their sight. He managed to get away with three other riders and after an exciting and tactical race he was awarded joint first place in the dead heat sprint. Another great day of Kermesse style racing and as ever there was a warm welcome from the local French clubs.
