Please see the below that was posted on Facebook earlier today (thanks to everyone who has alerted me to this).
We as a club intend to put forward names to participate in this event. Please do look at the key criteria – aged 14+ and accredited to ride the LVVP velodrome – apologies if your rider does not qualify with this criteria, I just don’t want any LVYCC rider to miss the opportunity by me assuming something incorrectly.
I really need expressions of interest by return so that we can send names off quickly so LVYCC riders are considered. Please see link below..
Here is the post:
“Riders needed for Guinness World Record Attempt at LVVP
The BBC are looking for track cyclists to take part in a unique Guinness World Records title attempt to be held here at Lee Valley VeloPark as part of Sport Relief on March 18th. The event will be recorded on the Friday night to be broadcast on Sunday 20th March.
This event combines James Cracknell attempting to ride an hour record on a Raleigh Chopper, and the ‘most people to ride a kilometre time trial in one hour’. This is where you come in; we would like our regular clubs and users to be given the opportunity to be a part of this exciting event, and we will be needing approximately 40+ riders to participate.
Each rider will be required to do a 4 lap time trial, with the next rider setting of as they finish. Because of the nature of the event, all riders will need their own bikes and equipment and must be Lee Valley Stage 4 Accredited. There will also be celebrity riders on hand to take a turn throughout the hour.
We would like each club to bring a few riders, preferably a mix of ages and genders. We would ask that riders are generally towards the over 14 age purely because this will be a late night, with the attempt starting at 2130.
The BBC will be giving the riders free entry to the Clash Of The Titans event earlier in the evening.
Please let me know if your club would be interested, and how many riders you can definitely bring. I can then start to get an idea of numbers and start times for each rider. “
