Eastern Cyclocross Association – Final league posiitions

Date January 24, 2012

Mistley was the location of the final round of the Eastern Cyclo-Cross Association league on Sunday 22nd January. As usual we were well represented with James Madgwick riding an excellent race to come 2nd in the Under 16 race. Georg Jensen was just pipped to the post by Mitch Powell from Chelmer this time but has done well all season to take the Under 14 title. This is particularly encouraging as he took the 12 title last year.

Full league positions are shown on our Cyclocross page.

2012 National Cyclo-Cross Championships

Date January 10, 2012

Eight riders from the club rodes at the Nationals in Ipswich on Saturday. A pleasant day saw a fairly dry circuit that allowed super fast racing on a hilly circuit, the nations best riders lined up in each event, and furious racing ensued.

First up was Tony Madgwick who came 26th in the Over 50′s.

Next, on a now cut up circuit, were the U14′s. Riders James Ambrose Parish, Callum Mackie and Georg Jensen flew the flag for LVYCC. All the riders got of to a great start. As the pace increased the field split, James faded due to illness eventually coming in 24th, Callum maintained a steady place to grab a top 20 finish, but the club ride of the day went to Georg who pulled off a top 10 finish in his first year in the U14′s.

Mathew & James Madgwick and Francesca Morgans Slader lined up in the U16 boys and U16 girls race. A hugely strong field in both races made it a daughnting prospect for our riders, but they all showed character and put in good performances. Mathew and James finished 31st and 37th respectively, and Francesca 13th.

Last up was Bruce Mackie in the over 45′s, who having been out through injury for almost a year put in a sterling performance and came 22nd.

A big well done to the riders and parents who made the effort to race this year. With such a high standard this year, LVYCC made a good showing with everyone putting in maximum effort.

The Cross season draws to a close with only a few more races to go. The final Eastern League race with be on the 22nd January, with the Team Championships being held on the 4th February.

We need riders for the Team event. Anyone wishing to compete please contact Terry, Bruce, Tony or Mick.
