About LVYCC
Lee Valley Youth Cycling Club is based at Redbridge Cycling Centre in East London. The club was founded in 2000 and has grown to become one of the largest youth cycling clubs in the UK. We are part of the British Cycling Organisation as an Accredited Go-Ride club and is run entirely by volunteers and parents.
LVYCC offers coaching sessions and social ride opportunities for 6 to 18 year old riders to enjoy cycling, socialise and enjoy the sport in a fun and friendly environment. As a Go-Ride Accredited club, our coaching activities are run by British Cycling qualified coaches, all of whom have undergone a DBS check and have been cleared to work with children.
The Lee Valley Junior Team caters for 16 to 18 year olds, enabling riders to progress from Youth through to U23.
We welcome riders of all abilities and many of our members joined with little previous cycling experience. If your child needs one, we have bikes available for hire at low cost, so there’s no reason not to get riding! We regularly have up to 100 riders of various abilities attending our coaching sessions on Saturday mornings.
We encourage young riders who want to train for racing and develop and support those who have the ability through to the British Cycling Talent Pathway. The club is represented in most National Youth Competitions across multiple cycling disciplines. We also participate in European races in both Youth and Junior categories.
We run a wide range of activities from riding for fun through to serious training for champions including:
Circuit, track and road cycling
Mountain biking
Cyclocross
Group coaching sessions and skills training by British Cycling qualified club coaches
Indoor training sessions using turbos, rollers and Watt Bikes
Road, mountain bike and cyclocross races
Sunday social rides for road and mountain bikes
We organise circuit races at Redbridge Cycling Centre with our own road race series for Youth and Junior riders in Summer and Winter. We regularly host a round of the National Youth Circuit race series on behalf of British Cycling, the national cycling body, and organise cyclocross races as part of the London & South East League and Eastern League series.
For the past few years, we have facilitated a training camp in Mallorca during the February half-term holiday, and an annual mountain biking weekend trip taking place during the Autumn half-term break.
We also have fundraising events, such as the annual quiz night and the Christmas Party / Raffle to get together and raise funds for the club.
Come and join a friendly, relaxed club atmosphere and learn to become an expert rider. Most importantly, we want to ensure that our members enjoy cycling and have a fun time!
